Germander speedwell
A wander around the Ellesmere Food and Drink festival today involved spending a little more than we envisaged but we are now replete with sausages, pies, pork pies, sauces and dips (seemed to miss the salad somehow).
You always know you are fairly local when one of the sausage makers said if we enjoyed his sausages he would drop them off on the way past if we ordered some more. It was also full of intrigue and temptation that we did manage to resist, paella (very difficult), alcohol from various local breweries (equally difficult) and a billion different varieties of cake and fudge (less difficult due to the previous taste testing of sausage).
Afterwards we went for a trundle down to The Mere and through the arboretum. Near the site of the old castle there is a lovely area of long grass (whether it is actual meadow or just uncut I am not sure) which is full of wildflowers of which this Germander speedwell is a part. I do love the ability with macro to get a view of the tiniest flowers that you couldn't see properly with the naked eye.
Behind again, oops!
