Racing ahead

The first major National Hunt fixture at Cheltenham begins tomorrow and lasts for three days. The traffic management issues are immense. Such a large sporting venue as Cheltenham is still only accessible by 19th century roads. The railway station on the racecourse is no longer connected to the national rail network. Hundreds of racegoers are now denied that very sensible sustainable route to the races.
