Atom Panopticon

Pennine Lancashire's Panopticons are a unique series of 21st century landmarks, designed to attract visitors into the countryside. Each Panopticon is situated on a high-point site commanding spectacular views. The Atom, above Wycoller Country Park, is intended as a shelter and viewing point.
When first erected a polished steel ball within the structure reflected the views back to the visitor, but unfortunately the ball was removed by vandals. The Atom still frames lovely views through its openings but an important element has been lost.
