A Day of Two Halves

We’re currently on a train between Hull and Doncaster, nearing the end of a day out to Filey using a Special Offer Day Ranger Ticket (£10 each). It started well with fine weather developing. The train was on time and on arrival, we found a nice cafe and had an early lunch. We then had a very pleasant walk onto Filey Brigg. As we set off to return to the station, the sky darkened and it turned colder. On arrival at the station, we discovered that our train was cancelled with an hour’s wait for the next one. To mitigate the wait, we caught our train in the opposite direction and stayed on at Scarborough so we’re at least in the warm.
