Moonlight Over Santa Barbara
Today I received this card and a letter from my penpal Peggy. Peggy lives in San Franciso and has recently taken a trip to Santa Barbara. We first started writing when I was 12 years old and Peggy was 11 years old. In a couple of years we will have been writing to each other for 60 years!!! I can't believe it but we are both very proud and pleased to have maintained our friendship over all these years.
We have met four times - in London and York and Peggy came to stay with us for a few days in 2017. Mr YB, our son and I also visited Peggy and her family in San Francisco in 2007. We visited her home one day and the next she took us to see the giant redwood trees. When she was here we visited Anlnwick Castle and Gardens, The Roman Wall and Housesteads Roman Fort. I also took her to Beamish Hall for afternoon tea and then on the day she left we went to visit Newcastle Quayside so she could see our bridges. We also visited the Cycle Hub Cafe as she is a very keen cyclist. Tea and cake were consumed. Peggy then met up with her husband for a few days in Edinburgh and then travelled on to Portugal.
Here is a photo of us at Alnwick Gardens.
