Narnia, et cetera
Today involved quite a lot of logistics and messaging but it worked. After a fabulous Syrian lunch (thank you - you know who you are) I spent the afternoon in the Oxford Story Museum with MariainWales and family. I last visited it properly over a decade ago when, thanks to a generous donation, it had just bought the old Royal Mail sorting office (before which it had spent eight years as a homeless virtual museum). Back then it was very creative in setting up exhibitions despite its lack of money.
Now, after closing for refurbishment in 2018 and, with painful bad timing, re-opening in time for Covid, it has a Whispering Wood (first extra - I love the tree bark) which tells stories to those who want to listen and has created 'real' worlds from children's books. Our two-year-old accompanied us into 'Snowman', Narnia (blip and second extra) and Alice's Wonderland, and my inner YA snuck off briefly to appreciate Philip Pullman's world.
