Exhibit A
No prize-winning vegetables, yet; the sleepers used to construct these raised beds were filched from the old (now defunct) forensic labs in Chorley.
With the first bed, I unwisely decided to adopt a mitre joint approach. I mean - have you ever tried to do this with a hand-held saw?
Having 'learnt a lesson', 'spent time', etc., etc., my 'character reformed', I butt-jointed the second bed, which proved even more difficult in terms of fixing.
Using a 25mm bit, I drilled vertically near the end of one sleeper, then horizontally from a cut end of the adjoining with a 12 mm bit to break through the first hole. Threaded rod was then fed through and, using insulation tape, I managed to lower dangling attached washer and nut before tightening, pulling the frame together. Ah, education is indeed a wonderful thing; if Gove has split his cabinet apart, I know how to fix it.
