The River Eden at Stenkrith Park Kirkby Stephen.

Clickychick had business in Kirkby Stephen and we planned to combine this with a walk.  So business in the morning, lunch in Kirkby Stephen then out to Stenkrith Park.  Getting out of the car we could hear the roar of the Eden.

We made our way down the zigzag path to the Millennium Bridge.  The view is always impressive from the bridge, today it was spectacular.  The whole of the water rushes through a narrow gap beneath the arch of the road bridge.  The gap is less than a fifth of the width of the river above the bridge.

We followed the path down through the woods until we arrived at a part that needed a scramble up a very muddy bank.  There we decided to turn round and head back.
