Trouble in Paradise

It’s not all stunning sunsets here in west Maui. 7,000 people lost their homes in the Lahaina fire last August. Many of the hotels around us are not open for tourists because they’re housing the homeless, but that is due to end soon. Landlords are raising rents and people have no place to go, so they are camping out on the beaches in high tourist areas to call attention to their plight. It’s a huge problem that really doesn’t have an easy solution.
