Focusing On A Nocturnal Rose

Today was a bit of a strange day. It included an early glass of Prosecco and some present opening, a trip to A&E and a late pub lunch.
It was my sister's birthday and we'd just finished imbibing a small glass of the fizzy stuff at the rather premature hour of 8 a.m when my dad rang to say that he needed taking to A&E. He's 85 and has several long term health conditions which are usually managed by his doctor and the district nurse but, as I've mentioned in a previous blip, they sometimes send out a nurse who cannot carry out what should be a minor medical procedure and we're then told that we need to take him to A&E otherwise he will get an infection. This is the third time this has happened in the last few months and on each occasion it usually means a 6 or 7 hour round trip to the hospital and back when it should be something that only takes a few minutes. Sure enough today was no exception. It's very aggravating and should be unnecessary but uppermost in our minds is how exhausting it is for our poor dad. We've spoken to his doctor and the district nurse but nothing seems to change. Dad was fine in the end but that's not really the point.
Once we'd got dad home and settled, and despite all being pretty shattered, we thought we should still try and salvage at least some kind of celebration for my sister's birthday so we strolled down to our local, The Chequers, and luckily we were able to secure one of the last available tables for a late pub lunch.
To be honest getting a blip image was the last thing on my mind as I was having trouble focusing on the idea until I literally saw this magazine with the word focus emblazoned on the front cover and combined it with a rose and a table lamp which were on our dining room table.
