Cardboard & String

A trip to the airport to pick up the Rower on his return from USA; I was rather early, so went to see the new Vickers Vimy exhibit at the Adelaide airport.  I was really excited to see it.

How 4 men successfully flew this crate from the UK to Australia in 1919 is beyond belief.

Anyway - I do have a personal contact with Sir Keith and Sir Ross Smith.  Well, not me personally but certainly at OGH.  We have two items which belonged to the Smith family.  The first one is the piano that was owned by Jessie Smith (the mother) - it's a Broadwood Cottage Piano dated 1893; and the second item is really poignant;  it's the crib that the little boys slept in when they were babies.  So it's conceivable that Mum was playing lullabies on the piano to send the babies to sleep.
