Bracklinn Falls, Callander
We did one of our favourite walks this afternoon to Bracklin Falls , Callander before ending up in the Potting Shed Bistro for a very late lunch.
The water level up at the Falls was surprisingly low, a result of the relative lack of rain we have had combined with a long mild autumn.
While there we met a young man standing beside the waterfall on crutches with a baby strapped to his chest taking photos.
I bet there is a story behind those crutches, I thought, and soon we were in conversation with him. Sure, enough he was keen to talk about his accident. He broke his leg badly in a skiing accident in Bulgaria eight months ago. He would not recommend Bulgarian hospitals. He was hospitalised in one for a week and he had substantial pieces of metal inserted into his lower leg.
No, his wife was not pleased. She was due to give birth to the baby he was holding a month later.
Well, that’s one marriage that got off to a rocky start.
