The Way I See Things

The weather in the Principality today was sunshine and showers on steroids: the sunny periods were almost blinding, and the showers were stormy enough to soak you to the skin and nearly take you off your feet. During one fine spell R and the Boy Wonder went out to play football in the garden, and within ten minutes they were being hailed on.

To compensate B for the boredom of being stuck indoors most of the day, we offered to take him out to lunch. He was dismayed when we opened the front door and he saw the almost horizontal rain (acrosspour?), but decided that he would be OK as long as he had an umbrella. The one he picked from the umbrella stand in the hall turned out to be an old pram attachment, and was therefore presumably designed to protect against sunlight rather than teeming rain, but rather than trying to talk him into using something else R and I just went with his choice. Within yards of the house he was squawking anxiously, as he felt himself and the umbrella being lifted by the wind, so at that point R put his hood up and carried him, while I carried the umbrella. By the time we left the café the storm had abated temporarily, and he felt safe using it again.

Boyism of the day, reported by L after we'd left: asked a question by her, he replied, "Yes!! It is! Ab-a-looty right!"
