SOLEMN SATURDAY

Hello Blip friends,

I'm sure many of you will know all about
Armistice Day and somehow it didn't seem
right to have a Silly Saturday theme on this day,
particularly as it fell on this very day, so
I have called this Solemn Saturday.

For well over 100 years
     at the 11th hour
          on the 11th day
               of the 11th month
many in our cities
     towns villages and hamlets
have stood for a two minute silence
     to honour those
who gave their lives
     for our freedom.
I'm sure many will have done so
     again this year.

The theme of the “Winter Wanderland”
in many windows on the Lawns
in Swindon, quite near to where
 the HCB's live is
     “Remembrance”
so here is the collage
     Mrs HCB has made
          using many of the displays.

They were all excellent and
a lot of effort had been put into
          each and every one
and even the children in the
     local school took part and
          made the Remembrance Tree.

The poppy I am wearing was made
by Val, a friend of Mrs. HCB -
I know she reads Mrs. HCB's Blip
every day so I hope she sees this.
Val has made many more
     and these have decorated
          the church and village
where she lives in Yorkshire.

With love to you all
from Leighton xxx
