ARMISTACE DAY - WE SHALL NOT FORGET

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Beautiful day weather-wise today.  All three of us went on down to the Memorial in Grange's Ornamental Gardens especially for the short service and 2 minutes silence at 11.00 am.

It was so bright and sunny that I'm afraid my photos aren't great and this is the best I can do.  I put Tommy into silhouette because it is one of those see-through ones which did not come out well in the bright sunshine, but could be picked out well into a full silhouette.

It was well attended but G being 57 was about the youngest there, and to me that is sad, it would be good to see some younger folk paying their respects too.

It was actually a good little service and amazingly could be put on speaker in our little area just by the use of smart phones and one speaker!!  That is when technology is at its best.  There were quite a few dogs in attendance too, all very well behaved.  One dog however must have been getting bored because he howled a little, but at the right time, only when we were all observing the silence.  It was quiet before and afterwards and somehow it seemed very appropriate and bought a tear to my eyes!!!

After the service we made our way to Thyme Out.  On the way we noticed that the S Cafe (two doors down from the Hazelmere) had brown paper up at the windows and a couple of notices saying FOREFEITURE!!! That is very sad to see as it was a nice little cafe and was nearly always quite busy.  Don't know why this has happened, but sadly I fear Grange is beginning to catch up with the rest of the UK with many businesses up for sale or closing down.  I know Country House is on the market, Butterfingers is going to be a Chinese Takeaway and Paragon is also up for sale.  It will be sad as that will make it another ghost town with just cafes and not a lot else.  Maybe these places can be saved yet, let's hope so.

We then went to Thyme Out for Brunch and coffee before heading home.

That's all for today.  Do take care and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.

LEST WE FORGET
