Alberta Pronghorn (Antilocapra americana)
A solitary
male ventures east ahead of
the impending storm.

Small groups of pronghorns were evident along the north edge of the trans-Canada Highway just west of Medicine Hat. This lone adult male was proceeding close to the highway. I only just snapped the shot and he was off. Pronghorns are marathoners. They are built for speed but not known as very good jumpers. They are thought to be the fastest land mammal in the Western Hemisphere.
