Beautiful peonies …

….. ….. ….. at a talk during this Week’s Writers’ Festival.
This afternoon we heard Cristina Sanders in conversation with Bill Day. Cristina has written a book called Mrs Jewells and the General Grant, a tale about a woman who was on the ship, the General Grant, when it sank, on the main island of the Auckland Islands, a group of islands in the Subantarctic Islands south of New Zealand. Cristina has never actually been to the Auckland Islands but accompanying her today was Wanaka Adventurer Bill Day who has visited and dived down there copious times, hoping to find the gold on the ship. Bill has helped Cristina with many of the details. Between them, they made it all come vibrantly alive. We loved every minute.!
