Mata Ortiz Pottery
Dana's friend Leigh has been collecting this beautiful pottery since about twelve years ago when she bought her first piece in Tucson, Arizona. It comes from the village of Mata Ortiz where pottery making has been passed down for generations, and the pieces are known for their intricate hand painted designs and beautiful craftsmanship. Dana had the day off today and we visited her home this morning where she shared stories about many of the things in her collection. She had set aside a number of pieces she thought would go well with the little quail that Dana got there for me in September. These are the ones I chose. In extras is one I didn't buy but am still thinking about..
I spent the afternoon rearranging all my treasues and 'editing' my collections. This always involves a bit of 'mission creep' as one thing leads to another, but it is a pleasant way to look at things anew. Dana got me started by helping with the exact placement of my new pots (and the things that they displaced.)
Once again it is Friday. How quickly they seem to roll around.
