The Doll Carriage Parade
This is a restoration of a photo that is over 75 years old. My cousin Mary is dressed up for the doll carriage parade. The original had physical damage where the photo was stuck to the glass and the hand painting was greatly faded except where it was painted with opaque white which obliterated the details. This was my biggest challenge yet. The blurred edges reminded me of how we would put Vaseline on a clear lens filter to create this effect. This edge blurring was often used on photos of that time. Lots of work but fun to bring the old image back to life. Gift#311: revisiting the past.
