Behind The Scenes At The Museum
We had a trip on the bus to Taunton today, a rather meandering but scenic journey through the villages on the way, taking twice as long as it would by car, but at least we have rural bus services and, in our case, for free.
We revisited the County Museum that we had been to with Sophie and Kate in the summer, which really is a museum to treasure. Housed in the old town castle it is beautifully laid out with lots of interesting artefacts tracing the chronological development of the county from prehistoric times.
I particularly enjoyed the old film clips of rural life and one about Cecil Sharp’s travels around the County collecting folk songs, with photos and audio clip of the singers.
The museum reminds you what a historically and geographically rich County we live in.
