Cows in the sunshine

I went down to the Borders again today for another workshop, this time it was using indigo dye on a tea towel. We used marbles and rubber bands for what was essentially a tie-dye process. It involved adopting an awkward position to keep the tea towel submerged but not touching the bottom of the indigo vat. It was quite fun although I probably won't try doing it at home - I might end up with a couple of indigo-dyed cats.

As you can see, it was another gloriously sunny day and the autumn colours were splendid again. I stopped in a lay-by on the decent from Soutra Hill to take this photo on the journey down to Birkhill House.
