When we came home from our walk this afternoon I glanced out of the kitchen window and noticed the Sparrowhawk sitting on the bird bath.   It was there for some time and the little birds were still using the feeders.  Eventually it flew up onto the conifers, to get a better vantage point I expect, and then flew off, empty handed, thank goodness.
