Sipi Tau

BBL with blurb!

Today we went to Leeds to watch the Women's Rugby League match between England and Wales and the final test between England and Tonga. The England women thrashed Wales 60 - 0. In the men's game, England had already won the first two tests so had the series in the bag. They won today too - 26-4. It was a good game for such a one-sided storyline.

Club games are better than internationals though - they are more competitive and feel more partisan to me. Wigan are my team and there were a couple of Wigan players in the England team today. But there were some Saints players and Leeds players that I find annoying too... After the game the Tongan team took a bow in front of the fans and we all applauded them. If an opposition club team had tried that it would not have been such a civilised response so it can't be just me...

This photo was taken before the match when the Tongans did  their equivalent of the Haka, the Sipi Tau. I love to watch these. I think England should have their own, based on traditional Morris dancing... Or maybe not...

After the game we went to Grace's for tea with her and Sophia. Very good to catch up with the lovely girls again and they cooked us a tasty bangers, mash and veg meal!

We are home now after a wet and at times hair raising journey home due to poor visibility, though I did like watching the fireworks we saw on the way. Well - I am home. Brian has gone for a "proper" beer in the local pub. I didn't fancy it. I've been awake since 5 AM and had to stand up for five hours at the rugby. I'd have to stand all night at the pub too. Plus it would have taken more than a quick shirt-change like Brian made for me to be ready for a night out.

So I'm at home alone with a G&T, watching crap on TV and catching up on here! There's no lemon or lime for my G&T, not much ice and I can't find my jigger but I am warm and comfy.

Minstrel has not been much company - he has been hiding under my undies drawer upstairs because of fireworks. He's not even eaten much of his cat food! Fireworks look pretty but do they really need to be so loud and pet-scaring?
