Day 0: A Big Diversion

Quit work at 3pm and headed to Gatwick Hotel. Our flight isn’t til after lunch on Saturday so we didn’t really need to go down but I like to be at the airport in good time!
Glad we did as if had been flying tonight would have missed the flight. M25 was closed so from Junction 4 all the way to Horley we blindly trusted satnav as we navigated an endless labyrinth of tiny rutted single track farm lanes. We ploughed through floods; rumbled over potholes; scraped down hedges and at one point swerved deer.. but eventually after 3.5 hours got to our destination in time for our dinner reservation at The Olde Six Bells.
