Alexandra Palace at night

The country is gearing up to the next festival, another noisy one.  Guy Fawkes night celebrates the gun powder plot in 1606 when a group of Catholic conspirators attempted to blow up Parliament and assassinate James 1st.  They were caught and came to gruesome end.  Not too many years ago everyone used to have bonfires in their back yard and throw a 'guy' on the bonfire accompanied by lots of fireworks.  Now a days everyone tends to go to a public display; our local one is held at Alexandra Palace shown lit up in the photo, there is a big display tonight, we are lucky enough to be able to look out our back window at it.
