Luring The Moths

Today was the start of Union County's 9th Annual Bio-Blitz through Lenape, Nomahegan, and Echo Lake Parks. The Bio-Blitz is a 24 hour intensive effort to see what plant life, insects, mammals and birds are inhabiting the park system.

This scientist was setting up a sodium vapor light to lure the moths for his study. I affably mentioned the Chickweed Geometer I spotted last August but I don't think he was very impressed.

No matter, I'm on the bird team and check in time is at 6am tomorrow.
