Lavender Fields

David came today to try to figure out where the 400 gallons in our pond went. I'm not sure he and OilMan figured it out, since the pond is still empty and the hole they were peering into is still gaping open, with various bits and pieces of wood and tools scattered around, and David had moved on to demolishing the fireplace with a mini-jackhammer. it seemed like a good time to vacate the premises, so my neighbor, Anne, and I went to the Matanzas Winery to look at the lavender fields.

The plants are just about at the peak of their fragrant bloom, filled with bees, and today, with several plein air painters scattered around under large orange umbrellas. Inside, in addition to the wine tasting bar, there is a large selection of lavender products which make nice gifts. It's a beautiful, peaceful setting.

No so back at the white house. David finished removing all the white painted rocks from the fireplace, so now we have a gaping hole in the TV room and a large pile of rocks next to the gaping hole behind the pond. We can already tell that the renovated fireplace will be a big improvement and the last major bit of remodeling. Maybe we'll even watch TV. As I stood there staring at the wreckage, David said, "just remember, you have to break the eggs to make an omlete...."
