the bigger picture

The news is depressing both at home and abroad. The (not so) great and the (not so) good, continue to ruin people’s lives.

On a smaller scale, Anniemay and I receive some news which both shocks and saddens us.

As I walk across the Common I always stop at about the same spot, but the scene is always different.  

And as I do so, I have for some reason, James Taylor in my head singing about how "this old world must still be spinning round”.  You’re not wrong James.  Professor Brian Cox would say the same thing, but in a less poetic way.

So today I felt the need to put myself in the picture and try and connect with this landscape.  To get all the bad stuff out of my head and think about the bigger picture.

p.s.  I know John Ford said that putting the horizon in the middle of the frame results in a boring picture, but I had no choice this morning.  I had no stilts either.
