Once again I was too tired to get up at 6.50. I was awake but stayed under the duvet. From where I sent some emails.
The day was spent at the desk/table watching the dreich weather, which deteriorated as the day progressed and working. Some multi tasking was thrown into the mix, booking a bus and dinner and getting irritated about a concert.
The Octopus engineer had said he'd be here at 1.25 but no show. That meant work was now interspersed with trying to sort out cover for after I was out. Eventually I spoke to Octopus (side bar, they really do have excellent customer service) to hear the engineer was in the depths of EH14 and it could be an hour before he showed. More juggling of friends and neighbours before I changed into proper clothes and set off for the McEwen Hall.
Graduation Day and good to meet up with old friends and colleagues. N met me at the front door and escorted me upstairs where there was wine but no food! The order has been changed and I was on the start. I have to admit it was quite emotional, walking up in stage to receive the ' very large wine glass'. If forgotten it was so big and of course there was the huge box of flowers as well. And then in to the real event, the graduation of the wonderful students. I wished if with my yellow boots. I'd have fitted in. And M graduated a d then an acknowledgement of D who has organised these events so well for years.
Back upstairs there was more wine and more chat about the revelations at the Covid inquiry and the misogyny confirmed in yesterday's evidence. Appalling
Then time to box up the crystal, pick up the flowers and set off carefully for the bus. Everything got home in one piece. There was no answer from next door so I have no idea how Octopus fared. The flowers and crystal have been added to the other piles of 'stuff' lying around the house. Saturday is the big clear up.
I had a very late dinner, watched some TV (a bit of a programme about Culross) and then bed, before 10.
