Even here in central east Tuscany we are bracing for thunder, torrential rain and high winds tonight. A very gloomy day, though very mild, with the cloud ceiling below the valley peaks. Wind picking up and the afternoon light seeping away.
A band of woodcutters is working adjacent to the house felling spindly pines. I wouldn’t fancy it myself. I remember reading about the wafer thin margins woodcutters were making in NZ in the South Island which was contributing to a high level of accidents and death, particularly in windy conditions.
Sometimes this big old stone house can feel a mite lonely when big night time weather is on the way, the wind booming like thunder and the rain thundering down through lightning flashes and the thunder growling into a cannonade as the peak approaches.
