First paddle

We decided to make a quick trip to the river before Gordon started work, as the forecast was for rain in the afternoon. The girls took their bikes. We stopped off for a paddle, Noah for the first time. Then set off again. Rohan got a head start on Lily, so when Lily set off she was at full speed. We walked along with the buggy, and on hearing crying rolled our eyes at what we thought was the inevitable fight about who would open the gate at the end of the path.
Then Lily appeared, limping towards us with blood pouring up her arm. She'd come off her bike onto the very gravelly path, and sliced her wrist open. It looked pretty bad, so after pushing her home in the buggy, I took her to casualty, where we waited for 3 hours, by which time the wound had healed nicely.
The kind nurse put some sticky strips and a bandage on for effect.
What a weekend.
