School Trip

I helped on Ella's class trip to the garden centre this morning. It didn't seem the most exciting destination so I had no expectations but boy was I impressed. Mr Kelly, the manager, was absolutely brilliant. His knowledge and enthusiasm shone out of him, he was patient, remembered children's names, filled them with information they found genuinely fascinating (insect eating, alien looking, stinky, sensory, spikey and edible plants were among the finds), they hunted in the rose labels for the funniest name (sexy red made the 7 year old boys giggle a lot) and went home with a trunk load of bedding plants to pot up back at school, compost, strawberries and herbs for the school garden. Fabulous, and Ella was delighted I went.
