On the doorstep

This is Chobham golf course which, if not literally on my doorstep, is just a few hundred metres along the road. I met my cousin there to have a catch-up in the clubhouse over bacon baps and coffee. He is 80 later this month and will be holding his annual birthday bash where he joins up with his former fellow band mates to play familiar pop standards. So, it's not just Mick Jagger and the Stones playing into their 80s! I am very much an occasional golfer and have played the Chobham course once. It is possible just to walk round the course, which is attractively laid out and, insofar as golf courses can be environmentally beneficial, it does seem to have some  features that are naturally formed rather than constructed. The weather was quite pleasant at this time, something of an interlude in this period of storms and heavy rain.
