All Saints Eve.......

.....commonly known as Halloween is celebrated tonight.  It stems from the Christian festival of All Saints Day when dead Saints (hallows), martyrs and the faithfully departed were remembered on Allhallowtide.

Now totally commercialised in America and spread to the UK it is associated with horror, and pumpkins.  I'm not sure where the pumpkins fit in besides for the fact that some Christians historically abstained from meat on All Hallows Eve.

(Thanks Wikipedia).

Anyway, we went to Top Barn this afternoon for a coffee.  There were still pumpkins for sale, though I suspect they will now go for animal food.  I'm combining the festival with DerelictWeek, hosted by Marlieske. This car, complete with trousers, has been there since the start of the pumpkin festival at the farm.
