Styal

A day out at Quarry Bank Mill in Styal, Cheshire, although the planned picnic had to be eaten indoors as it poured with rain. There were enough rain-free periods for a nice walk through the woods although we were glad of a couple of sturdy umbrellas.
The mill dates from 1784 and was for cotton spinning. It still produces calico although it is now run by the National Trust.
