Tales of the West

This hawthorn tree, laden with berries is on the western edge of Dartmoor. On the horizon is Brent Tor. The tor is topped with a church. According to one story it was constructed by a sea captain who vowed that if he survived a particularly severe storm he would build a church in thanks for his safe deliverance. The church on top of the steep-sided hill is popular with photographers, which is probably one reason why I tend to avoid it. I do like the view though from the moor, looking out across the patchwork of fields.
