The New Adventure Begins

It was DA's last day in the office today. Stuff got packed up, chucked out and wondered about. Phone calls came thick and fast - some even about work. He changed his work ID card for his pensioner's ID, which is very cool as it means he can turn up and use the Company Gym and then go to lunch with us as, and when it suits him. I got a new job as a result, I have to post him the week's menu as soon as it comes out on a Monday morning.

I quite like the German phrase for what he's done - "Er geht in Ruhestand". It means "he goes into retirement" but I really like Ruhestand as a word and it is not stretching very far it to call it a "state of tranquility".

He's a great bloke - taught me loads in the 6 months we've been working together, and in a way that was a load of fun. I'm sure he'll have a great time now he doesn't have to bother with work, he deserves to.

And so, to DA - a long and adventure packed Ruhestand (you can have adventures in a state of tranquility, I checked that with the Bungee-Jumping Buddha).
