Cool Ranch
Cool Ranch Doritos.
The food world in the U.S. I grew up in was nowhere near as sophisticated as it has become. One could be classified by whether one preferred Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch Doritos. We Cool Ranch types felt a bit more sophisticated. My (much) older self has come around to preferring Nacho Cheese when the junk-food-corn-chip craving strikes (to the undoubted horror of my 10-year-old-chip-snob former self). I still enjoy the occasional Proustian return to Cool Ranch (a contextual adjective use, that, heard by the wrong ears, might get my B.A. in French revoked).
