Urquhart Castle
It was lovely to visit the castle yesterday. It should be possible to arrive directly by boat as there is a visitor pontoon there, but it was closed due to damage. Same as last time we were here.
One day we'll manage to land there.
I think there's something very romantic about arriving places by boat, especially places like this where access to the water is an important part of their history.
We had a fairly relaxed day today.
We had hoped to go an see the falls at Foyers but the Jetty there had been damaged by the high winds at the end of last week and was also closed.
Instead we biked up to Nessieland. It's a rather strange and run down exhibition clearly set up by true believers, with a lot of repetition and speculation and a jumble of toys lying around. Never mind. We went to the Loch Ness Centre last time which was much more informative.
We had a lovely lunch in Drumnadrochit and bought a few souvenirs including a Nessie T-Shirt for CyclopsJnr before heading back to the boat. We then took the relatively short trip back up Loch Ness and through Loch Dochfour to Dochgarroch Lock which we went through before mooring up for the night.
CyclopsJnr enjoyed taking the helm for a bit in the open waters of the Loch, putting on a bit of speed, and doing some nice tight circular turns!
