Tuk Tuk sightseeing tour
Today we had arranged a Tuk Tuk sightseeing tour to cover the main sights. It was so good and our tour guide was very knowledgeable. We saw lots of areas we probably would never have even gone to. The picture today was one of them it was a viewing point in a housing estate where locals live with the most amazing views of the city. We then carried on with the guide pointing out monuments and buildings, we then stopped at Fisherman’s Bastion which looks like Hogwarts from Harry Potter and has great views over the River Danube and the Pest side of Budapest. We also visited a coffee shop that Queen Elizabeth visited when she was in Hungary, she always had the same cake so they have now named that cake after her. We then carried on our tour over to the Pest side of the city where the parliament building is and the Jewish quarter, where there are lots of quirky bars and restaurants. We ended the tour at the famous New York Cafe, it’s beautiful inside and you do have to queue to get a table. They have musicians playing whilst your eating.
After some food in the New York cafe which was delicious we had a look around the Jewish quarter we went to the ruin bars which are exactly that ruins with bars in and lots of different rooms to sit in to have a drink. We then went to the cat cafe of course.
We then headed down to the river to see the shoes on the river Danube, which is extremely sad. People had lit candles and laid roses next to some of the shoes.
Tonight we went for a lovely steak meal, followed by a visit to the for sale pub. It’s a pub that’s covered in notes that people write whilst they are in their and pin them to the walls and ceiling, they had live music on so we stayed for a few drinks.
