Red Acer
Our feature tree in the garden is a purple acer, which we have watched grow from a small potted plant only half a metre tall to its now impressive 3.5 metres high and across.
At this time of year the leaves turn this fiery red, before dropping. This one had a head start, so I used it for a little close up work.
Watched the rugby World Cup final tonight. A close affair, despite an early sending off for a head contact tackle. I appreciate the need to protect players from head injury, but it is very rare that a player deliberately targets another's head and the sending off has such a profound impact on the game. This after watching a rugby league international between England and Tonga where had the same laws been applied, hardly any player would have been left on the pitch.
