Black Walnut at Reed Canyon

An outing with Cyndy: lunch at Bertie Lou's in Sellwood and a walk around Reed Canyon at Reed College.
"Reed canyon is a 28-acre watershed in the heart of the campus, running east to west, dividing north from south, and is spanned by two pedestrian bridges and a land bridge. Home to a growing population of wildlife and native plants, the watershed includes the headwaters of Crystal Springs Creek, a tributary of the Johnson Creek Watershed, and Reed Lake, which has been deemed the oldest naturally occurring lake in Portland."
I was bemoaning the funk that keeps cropping up since the death of Aunt Dorothy when Cyndy said something, and suddenly she sounded just like her brother Jim. It isn't often that she reminds me of my old friend; I first met her in March after Jim's death, a very instant click, and maybe the more I see her, the more she'll remind me of Jim; that'd be okay with me.
