Summer remnants
The summer’s flowers have lasted well into the autumn, but the time has come to prepare for the winter - and of course, the spring.
I’m always reluctant to throw away - or compost- anything that might look good in a vase, so G fills an oversize garden bucket with this season’s tale-end blooms. There’s cosmos, verbena, dahlia, fennel and lots of beautiful gone-to-seed parsley. Lots of chopping, and the end result is several vases of frothy floral tributes to the end of summer.
So now there are the empty pots and cleared out borders waiting for the planting of spring bulbs and wallflowers - but that will be another day.
Oh - and I’ve managed to changed my blip name back to the correct and far less formal ‘Maureen’!
