City Scape
This morning I was safely escorted by a good friend through one of the scariest places in the universe: a shopping mall!
I detest shopping and particularly loathe large, enclosed shopping centers. Torture worse than water-boarding... I'd rather clean my house (and you know that tops my list of time-wasting activities)!
But since my brother's beach-side wedding is quickly approaching and I really wanted needed a new frock for the occasion, I headed into the city where there'd be sufficient selection to get the nasty deed done in one trip. Thanks to the ever patient, super pleasant Kettwigefrau it was a smashing success! In under two hours we found two new dresses for my summer holidays and had time to celebrate with iced coffee before collecting our kids from school. The process was almost painless :)
Exiting the roof of the mall carpark, I spotted this church's steeple peeking above the edge of a high wall and holding my iPhone over my head to the top of the barrier, snapped this picture. I love the surprise result: an historic structure perched in a little oasis of green surrounded by a concrete urban jungle. From my vantage, I couldn't actually see the young men spied in the lower right corner, enjoying a break on their roof-top terrace, but find that sign of quiet city life secluded yet in the open, above the noisy streets to be very refreshing! The entire image for me is one of colorful contrasts.
