Harry the Hoverfly.
There are about 250 different kinds of hover flies in Britain. Some people probably think that this insect is named after Sir Christopher Cockerell's invention, the hovercraft, but then, some people don't have a clue!
Hoverflies mimic bees and wasps, insects that sting and also taste unpleasant, so are avoided by predators.
They may look like bees and wasps but they are flies and do not sting.
However, this doesn't stop some humans from screaming and waving their arms about when they see one.
