Gums - Hill End
Some beautiful gum trees taken late in the afternoon across a dam, just off the Merlin Lookout Road, Hill End NSW.
Hill End is a famous gold mining town, just north of Bathurst. It reached its peak in the 1870's. To give some perspective of the size of the population of prospectors & their families at the time, the town & surrounds boasted some 52 hotels. Now days, it is almost a ghost town, but for a small collection of National Parks & Wildlife restored cottages & stores, plus the Royal Hotel.
