River of Flowers

By doffy

Thursday: Flowers

I had planned on a very lazy day, I woke up very tired.

After breakfast I made leek and potato soup, using carrots I’d frozen in place of stock - sprigs of thyme from the garden, balsamic vinegar, black pepper and sea salt … my dinner this evening :-)

Decided to do a few more jobs in the greenhouse:
Took my tubs of tomato plants outside, composted the plants and used the compost to make a new veggie patch for Mr. Curtis’s 9 Star Broccoli - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2909912242566727332 - also a rooted cutting of Wild Sea Cabbage, close to the path for ease of picking when the weather is bad. Mulched the rhubarb plants too.

Weather was really pleasant, sunny and mild. I found another weedy looking Bardsey Island Daisy - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2584464346830602438 - which I’d accidentally snapped in 2, I’ve planted both pieces in some fresh compost and fingers crossed that they’ll root! :-)

Still some colour in the garden from flowers:
Purple toadflax which self seeds everywhere - the wildlife and pollinators love it and so do I. Mauve Periwinkle which spreads everywhere and provides shelter and nectar for pollinators, Red Persicaria, Pink Kaffir lily, Cosmos which are very late in flowering and Blue Chicory.
And a totally surprising tiny fruit on Chilean guava

Hedgehogs very late going to the food this evening, it was after 6pm and we saw 2 of the smaller ones munching away on their kitten biscuits :-)

Love and hugs to all my family XXXX XXX XX

Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
