Straw bale construction

This method of building is becoming increasingly popular - originally straw buildings were pretty simple until the cows started eating them! They developed a method of encasing the straw bales in stucco thus protecting the straw from damp, rot and marauding cows. The walls are quite thick and the straw acts as excellent insulation against the summer heat and winter cold. The inside of this one is lined with beautiful reclaimed timbers from an old school. In the summer it is a farm market (fruit stand in this neck of the woods) and all the produce is as fresh as it can be. It has become very popular as a place to meet to have a coffee or eat ice cream under the grape arbor then stock up on the best fruit and veggies around. Looks good in winter too
