Foggy

Hospital day. Chatting to the senior nurse on arrival it became clear that we would have a much shorter day, which was really good news. So my “jaunt” was limited to a quick walk up the hill to Halton Castle.

We had travelled to the hospital through patchy fog, and up by the castle I could see that the fog was now concentrated on the River Mersey and its immediate environs. Both bridges across the river were hidden, and the only clue to the existence of the former Fiddlers Ferry power station (main blip) was the top of the big chimney above the fog. The eight cooling towers were completely shrouded. For clearer views of the structures follow the tags

Extra - another view of the fog. That cloud may be emerging from the big plant at Rock Savage.

And to meet Bob’s challenge, the former stone built parish library built in 1730 and I suspect long disused. It sits not far from the ruins of the castle.,
