Bus Pass Walk
No buses used today. Just 3 of us walking, and B had to be back earlier for a meeting, so we decided to stay local. We walked up into St Ives Estate and took the lower path through the woods - not as muddy as I had expected. Went across into "Betty's Wood" - surprising how much the replacement trees have shot up. Mind you - I haven't been up there since about February! The trees are rapidly changing colour, and my photo is from Betty's Wood looking out over Bingley. The sky was dark, but we escaped the forecast rain. The derelict Crossgates Barn now has a planning notice for a 4 bedroom dwelling. No utilities up there so it will be interesting to see the progress if it goes ahead. Coffee taken at the Ivy Kitchen as too early for lunch. We had joked with R our vicar on Sunday that we could end our walk at church as it would be open as a "warm space" - we were told "do it", so we did. We called in and had a lovely lunch of soup (3 choices of flavour), rolls and then coffee and biscuits. 3 Clergy members there having lunch plus 6 of us who turned up. Lots of funny stories and jokes made for a hysterical lunch break for everyone. Really enjoyed it. Heel playing up again - maybe a heel spur as my exercises for plantar fasciitis are not having any effect this time. So restrictive and annoying and very painful - grrr!
